About 8 years ago I realized for the first time that my visual construct for numbers, the alphabet, years, days, weeks and ages of life were completely personal and random, following no logical structure. Before this I just assumed that everyone saw these things when dealing with these abstract ideas. I cannot talk about, hear or think about these things without visualizing these construct or maps or whatever. This is the first time I have drawn them. The drawings are fairly accurate but still they don't seem right. It's almost as if the way I see them in my head is impossible to reproduce. My visual is almost colorless, the emphasis for me seems to be that the individual month, day, year, letter or number can only be seen as it relates to the whole. I never see just the # 5 but rather the location of 5 within my twisting chain of numbers. Years of life are similar to numbers in general but with a few changes. The forties are horizontal in life and vertical if abstract numbers. Many things about synaesthesia fit my situation perfectly. But others are so different. |
