A few details about me and about what I'm doing: | My book about the experience of synesthesia
was published by W. H. Freeman in November 2001, titled Blue
Cats and Chartreuse Kittens. The theme of my writing has always been exploring new worlds, both outer and inner. My personal essays and articles about Asia and Europe, as well as my writing on synesthesia have appeared in publications including The San Francisco Chronicle, New York Newsday, The Village Voice, The Philadelphia Inquirer and Ms. Magazine; in addition, I have regularly written columns on intercultural encounters for a Long Island, New York newspaper, The South Shore Express. My work is also included in the international anthology They Only Laughed Later:Tales of Women on the Move (Europublic Press) and the anthology Soulful Living, published by HCI. Since 1998, I have served as co-chair of Writers Harvest:The National Reading at Maison Francaise, Columbia University. For many years, I have taught language and communication skills, and have authored two English as a second language textbooks, Variations, published by Prentice-Hall and Focus on Innovations and Innovators, a joint project of Prentice-Hall and ABC News. I am also co-founder and consultant to the American Synesthesia Association. |
