Synesthesia, hm, what's that? I'm sure that I've heard this word before somewhere.
It's the combination of different sensations, said my friend Angela.
At first, this explanation did not mean much to me. However, after having digested
this for a while in my mind, it slowly became clear. Sure, long ago in Kindergarten,
it was like this: Monday means light red, Tuesday means light yellow, Wednesday means rusty,
Thursday means dark brown, Friday means pale yellow, Saturday means shiny white, and
Sunday means dark blue or jet-black. For me - I was a tiny child then, 4 years old -
it was just going without saying. I found out that it was not really normal
when I told the other children about it some time. "You are crazy!" one of them said,
and another one told me that I was "nuts" without any doubt. Just one of them,
my best friend Sandra, had shiny eyes. At first she nodded enthusiastically, but
then she shook her head: "No, Monday is green!" But this I could not understand at all.
For me, the only possible colour for Monday was light red - could there be a doubt about this?
I can't remember the end of this discussion any more, unfortunately.
Probably there was no solution at all. But for me, the days of the week still
shine in the same colours as they did that time.
